Rumpelstiltskin (Tip Toein' in My Jordans)

The Rumpelstiltskin meme fooled a lot of people. It looks like a scene from a forgotten 1980s fantasy film, grainy and a little unsettling: a small, impish figure dances on tiptoe in a barn while a young woman watches, straw turns to gold, and he becomes a prince. None of it was ever filmed. The whole clip is AI.

What does it mean?

On its own the clip is just strange. The meme comes from the song. Riff Raff's "Tip Toe Wing In My Jawwwdinz" is a swaggering 2014 rap track, and laid over a fairy-tale imp creeping around a barn, it turns him into someone sneaking about with far too much confidence.

So people caption it with moments like that: the dreams you get after cheap melatonin, creeping downstairs at 3am, coming home late and pretending you weren't out. It also became a template: keep the dance and the sound, swap in someone else.

Where did it come from?

The video first went up on Instagram on August 27, 2026, posted jointly by three AI-art pages: Stroinaya, Neuroferma and Anna Glinskaya. For a month it was a niche curiosity.

Then a TikToker paired it with the Riff Raff song on September 29, and it took off. By early October it was everywhere on TikTok and X, and so was the argument about whether it was a real movie. Some viewers were sure it came from an old Russian film or the 1987 Rumpelstiltskin; one X user wondered whether David Lynch had borrowed it for Twin Peaks. NBC News wrote about the confusion on October 7.

The versions people make

Caption memes. The original clip with a line on top. This is how it spread.

Face swaps. AI edits put other people and characters in Rumpelstiltskin's place: Asmongold, Deadpool, and Sam and Dean from Supernatural.

Doing the dance. On October 18, 2026, Jacksonville Jaguars players did the tiptoe dance after a touchdown in London. NFL Memes posted the two side by side and got 1.5 million views in a day.

How to post it

• The sound is "Tip Toe Wing In My Jawwwdinz" by Riff Raff; most posts use the version already on TikTok.
• The caption is the joke. Make it a specific, slightly embarrassing moment.
• If you swap someone in with AI, say so. A lot of people still think the original is real.
• Credit the original Instagram creators when you repost the clip itself.
